Root Cause Analysis for Learning Professionals

Area of Expertise: Performance Improvement

Do your metrics and measures spotlight issues, or are you simply measuring errors and volumes? Best-of-breed companies are using root-cause analysis, issues logs, and scorecards to improve efficiency, resolve upstream challenges, and organize work cross-functionally to improve performance across various departments throughout organizations. What are you waiting for? Let’s get started!

Topics:
• How to uncover potential areas for performance gaps
• Describe root cause analysis, steps, tools, models and examples
• Discuss the ways metrics can be used to  to help uncover "fear factors" - such as resistance, cynicism, increased workload, under-performance and results that make you "look bad"

Steve Hodgson has been a payroll professional for 25 years. He earned the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation from APA in 2001. Originally a member of the association, he joined the staff 13 years ago. He earned the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) from ATD in February 2017 after attending a year-long CPLP prep course with the ATD Learning System. With a B.S. in Music Education, he was originally a music teacher, and even while changing careers, training has been the continuous focus of his professional responsibilities. Now, he teaches payroll compliance and regulations instead of music theory!
