Have a question you'd like to pose to the Greater Las Vegas ATD Chapter? Looking for help on a training project? Need to bounce ideas off another like-minded learning professional? You've come to the right place!

    Hi Eli,

Thanks for the post!  Would you please be more specific in what you are looking for?

I think any good training announcement should tell me why I would be interested in the training program, how to access or enroll in it, any considerations like prerequisites, location, or time, and who I can contact for more information.

While I don't have any boilerplate text to share (we customize our announcements based on the program), here are a couple fun things we've done to catch a learner's attention:

    • Change the "default" subject line or messaging to apply to the course and grab attention - we've done things like "Your treasure map awaits, [name]..." for a scavenger hunt-themed course, and "Raise the roof!" for roofing terminology.
    • If you're using an LMS or other software with custom fields, try personalization! Use the learner's name in the subject line and other identifying information (department, location, etc.) as appropriate throughout the email.
    • Can you use graphics in your announcement email? You can incorporate course branding or just make the announcement stand out from other text-based emails your learners receive.
Hope this gets you started, I'm happy to brainstorm other ideas if you let us know a bit more about what you're looking for!

    Hi Sue and Britne,

Sue, I believe Britne has given me some ideas, to begin with.

Britne, thank you, I will try some of these points.

    Overall,

I am trying to increase the desire to want to attend.  I realize there are many ways, but I wanted to try this way first.

Any additional advice or tips would be great.

I always like to address the benefits and how the behavioral objectives will help them in the real world.
