ASTD Las Vegas has been invited to join the American Red Cross along with the Professional Henderson Firefighters to the second annual Drowning Prevention Press Conference and Mass "Walk and Knock." We are looking for volunteers to disseminate information on drowning prevention on Saturday, May 12 from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

Drowning is a leading cause of unintentional death in Southern Nevada for young children, and an average of eight children die every year. It is only through focused education and heightened awareness on the issue that these tragic accidents can be prevented.

Community leaders will speak at a press conference from 10:00am-10:30am.  Volunteers will walk the neighborhoods en masse providing information about drowning prevention and awareness. A door hanger containing the A, B, C, & D's of drowning prevention will be disseminated to Henderson homes with pools.

Volunteers can be as young as 10 years old (all volunteers under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Location:

City of Henderson Fire Station 97

1550 Amador Lane

Henderson, NV 89012

* Volunteers will be meet in the park behind the station.

You may register here or for more information, please email VP of Community Affairs Gwen Navarrete at gcnwrite@yahoo.com by Wednesday, May 10.
