We did it again! The Greater Las Vegas Chapter of the Association for Talent Development (ATD) was recognized in May 2018 for our submission to the ATD “Sharing Our Success” (SOS) program. The national SOS program identifies best practices among local ATD chapters and uses them as models for other chapters.
In an effort to organize the chapter and run it like a business, the Greater Las Vegas chapter wanted to identify all of our CARE responsibilities and break them down by board member role. At the beginning of 2017 we looked at the CARE and Power Member requirements and came up with daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly tasks for each board member role. The chapter developed a Roles and Responsibilities document for each chapter leader position in order to monitor, measure and analyze monthly to determine CARE compliance. We implemented this by reviewing job descriptions on the Chapter Leader Community, customizing them for the chapter, adding foundational CARE and joint activities, and then highlighting the CARE items in orange so they stand out on the document and can be reviewed at each monthly board meeting. (Want to see a board meeting in action? Join us in July!)
As far as outcomes, the chapter achieved 100% CARE and Super Star recognition. In addition, we achieved the Power Membership Award (2nd place-small chapter with 68%).
Lisa Goodpaster, Chair of ATD’s Chapter Recognition Committee said,
"This recognition honors the Greater Las Vegas Chapter’s best practice that demonstrates its commitment to managing a successful organization as well as advancing the talent development profession at the local level. We are honored to recognize the chapter with ATD's SOS recognition."
