Switching the Chapter’s Website from Wild Apricot to Star Chapter |
Communication:Chapter Website
|
In April 2024, the chapter switched from Wild Apricot to Star Chapter to streamline operations, cut costs, and enhance the member and board experience. A transition team ensured smooth implementation by migrating data, training the board, and aligning the platform with ATD’s rebrand. The new system unified event management, communications, surveys, and finances—simplifying workflows, improving reporting, and eliminating third-party payment tools. This shift enabled a more efficient, cost-effective platform that boosted engagement and positioned the chapter for sustainable growth.

Grant Funding for Hybrid Meeting Equipment |
Chapter Finances:
|
The Greater Las Vegas Chapter expanded its membership to include a new Geographic Interest Group (GIG) for ATD members living in the Reno and Northern Nevada regions. To include its new members in in-person programming, the chapter decided to invest in the technology necessary to host hybrid events. The board formed a subcommittee to research options and secured grant funding, which it used to purchase new technology, including Meeting Owl equipment, a laptop, and the accessories to support livestreamed events. |

Board Transition Made Easier via Pre-Planned Annual Events |
Board of Directors:
|
To support smooth leadership transitions, we host three popular events—State of the Chapter, Unconference, and Tribute to Learning—during January through March, providing incoming board members with ready-made programming to ease their onboarding process.

Hosted an Unconference |
Professional Development:
|
Responding to member interest in networking and sharing practices, we launched an Unconference with breakout rooms aligned to the capability model. Attendees led discussions, resulting in doubled attendance from the previous year, positive feedback, and new member growth. |

Score Card |
Governance:
|
In 2017, the board created a Chapter Metrics Scorecard to align with CARE and Power Membership goals, tracking six key metrics to guide decisions and improve programming. This led to a Power Member increase from 46% to 68% in one year. |

Roles and Responsibilities Connected to CARE |
Board of Directors:Chapter Volunteer & Board Position Descriptions
|
To run the chapter more strategically, board roles were aligned with CARE and joint membership tasks are tracked through customized responsibilities documents. This structure helped us achieve 100% CARE, earn Super Star status and second place in the Power Membership Awards in the small chapter category. |
