Result-driven design: How a training evaluation model guides us to design for transfer

This session will provide practical insights for anyone who is designing and developing training programs and makes decisions on employee training. You’ll find out how to create rigorous assessment techniques based on an evaluation model, and how to make transfer of learning to workplace more viable by intertwining training design and evaluation. You’ll also learn how training evaluation can create a positive shift of mindset in the stakeholders. You’ll leave the session with a basis to refine your own training practices.

Session Objectives

  • To improve your training design based on training evaluation measures
  • To use a new training evaluation model: Learning-Transfer Evaluation Model (LTEM)
  • To develop robust assessments
  • To navigate your discussions with the stakeholders when you are asked to design a training program just like any other ones

Elham Arabi is a senior learning designer and consultant at World Health Organization (WHO). She leads the implementation of result-driven design using a competency-based framework which she has developed based on the LTEM. Elham has more than 15 years’ experience in instructional design and developing online and blended learning solutions. She earned her PhD in Interaction and Media Sciences from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her thesis was on enhancing training design based on training evaluation using the LTEM model.
